What is Whitsun Camp?
Whitsun Camp 2020 is an epic, action-packed weekend away, full of fantastic games and riotous fun set in a beautiful glade in the forest near Waverley Abbey.
What will we be doing?
From Friday night to Monday afternoon, we have an action-packed weekend enjoying the expansive Waverley Abbey forest and its surrounding area. We will play a frenzy of games, get stuck into team activities and enjoy a chance to run around with mates.
What is the format?
Whitsun Camp is run by a team of trained leaders, and lads are divided into tent groups by age, with each tent having two or three leaders responsible for looking after the lads in their tent for the duration of Whitsun Camp. This provides a high leader to lad ratio (around 1:3), and creates a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. There is a strong sense of community on Camp, and Camp is a place where lads often make strong and lasting friendships with one another. This is reinforced by the lively meal times, where the food is always top class thanks to a brilliant cooking team.
Who is Camp for?
If your son has been to Urban Saints, or would like to start by going on Camp, then it is for him! Although Urban Saints is a Christian organisation, Camp is a place that is welcoming to lads of all faiths or none. There are daily slots on Camp aimed at exploring aspects of the Christian faith in a way that is engaging for both ‘churched’ Christians and those who have never explored the Christian faith before. Want to bring a friend along, who is not a regular at USG? What a good idea! Mention their name (and a contact detail) to Dewi Eburne (Dewi.eburne@gmail.com / 07925 201631) and he will make sure they get all the relevant mailing and information.
How do I apply?
Follow the link to our online application form, which can be used to apply for Summer Camp, Whit Camp, or both at the same time. If you are applying only to Whit Camp, be sure to get your application and payment in before 17th April. If you are applying for both Whit and Summer Camp, to avoid the penalty fee, also get your application and payment in before 17th April. If you would like to make an additional donation to the wider cost of these Camps, please complete a gift aid form.
What is the cost?
* £80 for Whit Camp bookings received before 17th April.
A combined booking for both Whitsun and Summer Camp costs £440 for bookings received before 17th April.
After this date, late application fees apply
Urban Saints Guildford strongly believes its camps should be accessible to all lads, and therefore has funds available if you would be unable to afford the full fees – if you would like to discuss this, please contact USG’s Group Leader Jagat Shrestha on 07800 884933.
Any Questions?
We are here to help, if you have any questions – feel free to give the Whitsun Camp organiser a call, Dewi Eburne (07925 2016310).
