How to Support us

With such an exciting and energetic programme we often find it’s not just young lads in Guildford who want to get involved with the group but often the parents do also! Many a time we hear comments such as ‘I wish I was a lad in years 5 – 13 as I’d love to be involved in the group!’. Well the good news is you can be!

As a non-profit charity we rely on a wide team of supporters and volunteers to enable and equip us for the work that we do in Guildford. Below are just a few ways in which you might want to consider being a part of the group.

Parents and Supporters’ Prayer Group:

Body_WritingonbrickEvery couple of months a faithful group of supporters (not just parents) meet together to chat about Urban Saints Guildford and to pray for us. From our perspective this role is massively important as we believe that prayer is the powerhouse behind everything we do, as without God’s help we can assure you we wouldn’t get far with a group of 100 young lads each week!

“It’s a great chance to meet with other parents and supporters, find out a bit more about what’s going on in the group, and an inspirational time realising the dedication of the leaders to God’s work amongst the lads” – Alan Mansfield, Prayer Group leader.

If you don’t think you can commit to the supporters group then no worries you can either dip in and out when it suit or alternatively sign up for the newsletter that gets sent out every so often.

Financially:

Body_RobotactivityUrban Saints Guildford has relied on people’s kind donations to keep itself running for over 100 years…….isn’t that incredible. We’re so grateful for this ongoing support as it is vital to the ministry we feel called to. As a group we have no ‘paid’ leaders, so literally every donation we receive gets ploughed back into the group and helps cover many of the essentials for running a group like ours. With an extensive camping programme, a large hall to maintain, and plenty of energetic lads to entertain you can imagine the ongoing demands.

If you would like to consider supporting us either through monthly giving or with an occasional gift that would be amazing. If you’re a tax payer please do complete a Gift Aid Form as being a registered charity we can claim back the tax on your gift, which is a massive blessing and extremely helpful to our work.

If you would like to make a donation to the group, please visit our online donation page, or for more information, please contact either the group treasurer or one of the other leaders found on the list of key contacts.

Leadership:

Body_LadsmessingaroundontubestokeparkThe group is run week-in-week-out by a team of about 20 – 25 volunteers who generously give up their time to help out. Although as you can probably imagine we could always do with more help. Therefore if you know of anyone 18+ with lots of enthusiasm and energy, and with an interest in youth work then do get in touch with us. We offer training and mentoring to new leaders and can be flexible as to how much or how little you might get involved in.

As the group is an all male group the leadership team is generally made up of male leaders, however we do have a number of married couples within the team so if you and your spouse wanted to be involved together then do get in touch. There is an occupational requirement that all our regular leaders have a practicing Christian faith and are in agreement with our basis of faith.
