It was a warm and sunny evening in early September when the lads of Urban Saints Guildford started to gather in the grounds of Guildford Lido…
So what happened…………..
On the evening of Friday 5th September more than 100 USG’ers took over the Guildford Lido for our annual swim and BBQ. It was a chance to wash off any lingering grime from Camp (!), enjoy some BBQ cuisine and chill out at the start of a new Urban Saints Guildford year. The event is also a great one to introduce lads to the group and this year we saw 10 new lads join us.
There was a chance for some footie in the grounds, as well as testing out the new water slides – the pool remained the main attraction, especially with displays of swallow diving that generated bow waves and red chests to wide applause!
As the light died, the pool emptied and it was time to enjoy burgers and sausages, meat or vegetarian style. The evening was then rounded off with a short talk by Chris East who reflected on the message from Camp and challenged us all to think about and find out who Jesus is and decide our response. It was the end to a great evening, which lines us up for an excellent USG year.
