Why do USG go to the Lido at the start of September each year?… it’s all in the name.
So what happened…………………..
On the evening of Friday 4th September Urban Saints Guildford had the Guildford Lido to ourselves (all 110 of us) for our annual swim and BBQ. It was a chance to dip in the pool to remove the last clumps of mud from Summer Camp (!), enjoy some delicious BBQ cuisine and relax at the start of a new USG year. The event is also a great one to introduce lads to USG and this year we saw even more than last year, with 13 new lads joining us for the evening.
There was a chance for some games in the grounds, as well as enjoying the water slides, whilst the pool remained the main attraction. As the light faded, the slides and pool emptied and it was time to enjoy burgers and sausages, meat or vegetarian style, topped off with some cheese and a splodge of ketchup.
The evening was then rounded off with a talk and Christian challenge by Mike Gibbons and Josh Cook. There was a swift exit at 9pm to meet waiting parents – a great evening, which lines us up for an excellent year at USG.
