What is Summer Camp?

Summer Camp 2020 is two weeks of riotous fun spent camping at a beautiful seaside location in North Cornwall. The camp site is on a hillside with a spectacular view of the sea, and is only minutes’ walk away from the beach.

What will we be doing?

Summer camp is an exciting, fun and action packed two weeks, but with plenty of time for relaxing with friends or reading a good book. Activities from the Polzeath-based camps in years gone by include beach games, football, water sports, cycling, swimming all whilst diving into the Christian faith!

What is the format?

Camp is run by a team of trained leaders, and lads are divided into tent groups by age, with each tent having two or three leaders responsible for looking after the lads in their tent for the duration of camp. This provides a high leader to lad ratio (around 1:3), and creates a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. There is a strong sense of community on camp, and camp is a place where lads often make strong and lasting friendships with one another. This is reinforced by the lively meal times, where the food is always top class thanks to a brilliant cooking team.

Who is Camp for?

If your son has been to Urban Saints, or would like to start by going on Camp, then it is for him! Although Urban Saints is a Christian organisation, Camp is a place that is welcoming to lads of all faiths or none. There are daily slots on camp aimed at exploring aspects of the Christian faith in a way that is engaging for both ‘churched’ Christians and those who have never explored the Christian faith before.

Want to bring a friend along, who is not a regular at USG? What a good idea! Mention their name (and a contact detail) to James Price, Summer Camp leader, (james.p2424@gmail.com / 07714 819206) and he will make sure they get all the relevant mailing and information.

How do I apply?

Follow the link to our online application form, which can be used to apply for Summer Camp, Whit Camp, or both at the same time. If you are applying to both Whit and Summer Camp, be sure to get your application and payment in before 17th April. If you are applying only to Summer camp, the deadline is the 5th June. If you would like to make an additional donation to the wider cost of these Camps, please complete a gift aid form.

What is the cost?

* £380 for Summer Camp bookings received before 5th June.
A combined booking for both Whitsun and Summer Camp costs £440 for bookings received before 17th April.

After these dates, late application fees apply.

Urban Saints Guildford strongly believes its camps should be accessible to all lads, and therefore has funds available if you are unable to afford the full fees – if you would like to discuss this, please contact USG’s Group Leader Jagat Shrestha on 07800 884933.

Any Questions?

We are here to help, if you have any questions – feel free to give James Price, the Summer Camp organiser, a bell on 07714 819206.

What better way to spend the last two weeks of August than by coming on Summer Camp with your friends for a fantastically good time!

Urban Saints will treat the information given to us in total confidence (except as required by law) and store it in full accordance with the Data Protection Act 2018.  We may take videos and photographs of Camp activities, and attendance at Camp means agreement that these may appear in future Urban Saints publicity – subject to the conditions given on the combined Whitsun / Summer Camp application form.
9. In the event of either camp having to be cancelled in the four weeks prior to, or during, each of these residentials, as a result of a situation beyond our control (e.g. Foot and Mouth), a refund will be made pro rata of 50% of the fee.  This recognises the fixed costs of each camp.
10. For insurance reasons, should a lad travel to either camp in his own car, he will not be permitted to use it whilst on that residential.
